Sydney Pollack has sadly passed away. The director won acclaim (and awards) for his film Out of Africa...he also directed Tootsie, Random Hearts, Jeremiah Johnson, Three Days of the Condor, The Way We Were, and The Firm just to name a few.
He won an Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director for Out of Africa and was nominated for both of those for Tootsie.
All in all he was a fantastic director with serious skill, and should be mourned, because a good director has passed on.
