Sorkin joins "Facebook"

Aaron Sorkin who has written such incredible shit, like The West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Charlie Wilson's War, A Few Good Men, as well as more, is apparently leaning towards more recent history for his next project. A flick about the Harvard guys who created Facebook.

Let me tell you something about Facebook...it sucks balls. Facebook is the worst of the group when it comes to being a friend-whore, but needless to say, it's still around. Harvard Guys had to create the fucking thing too. How fucking bad do you feel, population? Harvard, four fucking Harvard guys, created a website where you can be friends with everyone as long as you went to a certain school (not anymore actually). I found this to be rather elitist, but I wouldn't join regardless. I am more a MySpace type-o-guy, myself.

If you're on myspace and you want to look at some chick's pictures (as long as she doesn't have her shit blocked) you can look at her sexy pics no problem. To look at pics on Facebook, you have to friend said sexy girl in order to do so.

Just so you know, I have nothing against Boston, it's just sad that a couple of geeky fuckers from HAH-VAHD had to create friendships via the computer.

Bravos trade Kotsay to the Red Sox for OF Prospect...

Fuck the heck!?

Hot Chick O' The Week

Amber Heard is so hot. I almost immediately fell in love with her on Hidden Palms for the episode(s) I watched (probably like two). The show wasn't very good, but she is smoking hot. She's in Pineapple Express and she's a bad girl apparently according to her Maxim Interview which you can read in Maxim's August issue. She starred in (a pretty good flick if my opinion counts for anything) Never Back Down opposite Sean Faris and Cam Gigandet. She's gorgeous. Bottomline.

ABC picks up five shows

Three of which I will mention.

Firstly, Cupid which is brought back to life by Veronica Mars writer/creator Rob Thomas (he also had a hand in bringing back 90210 God Bless him) about a guy (Bobby Canivale) who thinks that he is Cupid, and the shrink (Sarah Paulson, whom I love) who treats him. Paulson was fantastic in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip which got canceled prematurely.

Second off, The Unusuals which stars Amber Tamblyn and a whole bunch of other people like: Harold Perrineau, Jeremy Renner, and Adam Goldberg. It focuses on a quirky (their word, not mine) NYPD precinct.

The third is a Nathan Fillion show (Firefly, Two Guys a Girl and Pizza Place) called Castle where he plays the title character Nick Castle who plays a novelists who helps the police.

They all sound pretty good, it's nice to see Nathan Fillion getting back to TV.

Finally the music that says something is back...

Jack's Mannequin is too fucking good for words. You should go out and buy the new album on September 30th, 2008 it's called The Glass Passenger and I bet that you would really like it. Just take a look at these lyrics for the song Lullaby:

Give me something to believe in,
A breath from the breathing
So write it down,

I don't think that I'll close my eyes
'Cause lately I'm not dreaming
So what's the point in sleeping?

It's just that at night,

I've got nowhere to hide
So I write you a lullaby
A lullaby

Tell me those aren't fantastic.

Also, I'm writing something again, Thank God.

I'd be lying...

If I said Fast and Fourious (yea, I know) didn't look fucking ridiculously awesome.

When you watch something because of the people in it...

Raising the Bar looks like a good show. It's probably not a great show, but it looks good enough to watch, because of the people who act within it. Mark Paul Gosselaar has been on TV for fucking ever starting with Saved by the Bell and going on to Hyperion Bay, D.C., NYPD Blue, he was in a couple of episodes of Over There (short lived, but really good FX Series), he was on Commander in Chief (it's a wonder that didn't work out....) and he was most recently on John From Cincinatti. JFC was a show that no one got, including me, but Gosselaar was good on it even in a reduced role.

Now he's on a Steven Bochco produced show, which isn't a first for Gosselaar who was on Over There and Commander in Chief (both produced by Bochco). Now, this show also stars Jane Kaczmarek (who is married to Bradley Whitford of Studio 60 and West Wing fame) and J August Richards. You'll remember Kaczmarek from Malcom in the Middle she played the mother (Ohhhh right), but unless you're a big fan of Angel starring David Boreanz you won't have a clue who J August Richards is.

Richards played in nearly a 100 episodes the Joss Whedon series Angel playing Charles Gunn; he was also on another show I liked very much called Conviction (created/produced by Dick Wolf of Law & Order fame). Richards' role on Angel actually became my favorite over time on the show, just because of his dialogue and over all demeanor. So, what I'm saying, is that I'll watch this show based on the actors alone. Unless it's written so poorly it cannot be saved.

Pavano toes the rubber today...

Carl Pavano, who has started 19 games for the Yankees since signing a 4 year $40 million dollar contract, will start today against the Baltimore Orioles.

I remember talking about this way back when. Pavano signs a big deal with the Yanks after a fairly good season with the Marlins. A gigantic contract for a guy who was just not proven yet, and it backfired. Pavano hurt everything on his body that could be hurt. His ribs, his butt, his elbow, his back, and his shoulder not in that order.

The call comes, because they don't think Phil Hughes is polished enough down in Trip A. So, Pavano it is.

Jesus Christ....he'll probably wind up throwing a no-no.

EDIT: Pavano pitched 5 innings, gave up 3 runs, K'd five, and gave up 7 hits. All in all, Pavano looked like Pavano would without his usually ball movement.

Judge him not.

Mike Judge apparently has another movie up his sleeve. After Idiocracy I was unsure of this, because that movie was a piece of flaming shit. Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph couldn't save the comedy...that's how bad it was.

Now Judge has another movie which'll start shooting sometime next week called Extract which is about a man who works at a flower-extract factory and loses his arm in a freak accident and tries to get a substantial settlement from his place of employment. The flick will star Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, and Mila Kunis.

Gene Upshaw dies...

This sucks. Gene Upshaw was an NFL Hall of Famer, 7 time pro-bowler, 11 time All-Pro, 2 time SuperBowl champion, a member of the NFL 75th Anniversary Team, and a member of the 1970's All Decade Team. He played for the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders from 1967-1981, playing 15 seasons (217 games). He retired in 1981 and shortly after became executive director of the Player's Union.

I told the guy I work with "I can't find any stats on this guy, Gene Upshaw, like nothing just a couple of Fumble recoveries..." and he said "Who cares? He's dead."

Real nice.

Gene Upshaw dead at the age of 63, from pancreatic cancer that he was apparently hiding.
1945-2008

Julius Carry dies.

Julius Carry has passed away, he was basically a television actor most recently starring in an episode of The Unit, but I remember him as a character that only lasted a couple of episodes. He played Bill on Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place and his character owned the pizza place.

The BoA is saddened by this loss.

This is interesting, but FAKE!

I would love to see this actually be real, but it's not. Chris Nolan has not signed for another Batman flick, although, I believe it's likely he will. Bale is signed, but will only do it if Nolan does it. Also, after Ledger's passing I think people want to leave it alone for a minute. Regardless someone fucked around and made a Dark Knight Returns poster with The Riddler's impression on it. Question marks, and stuff riddle (see what I did there) the new paper clipping that's used as the backdrop of the poster. All in all. It looks fairly sweet, and the person did a really good job with it.

Laurence Fishburne joins "CSI"

Laurence Fishburne, from The Matrix and most recently in 21 starring opposite Kate Bosworth will join CSI: Crime Scene Investigations in it's 9th episode after star William Peterson departs the show for good. Fishburne will play an ex-pathologist who is working as a College Criminalistic's professor. He winds up helping the team with a specific case and gets lured in; thus joining the team full time.

With Peterson's departure the show was lacking a central part of the show, so adding a big named actor was the only recourse.

Maybe we'll get a Voltron movie before I die.

This is from DarkHorizons.net.

Justin Marks, the young scribe behind the upcoming Green Arrow film "Super Max" and the new film version of "He-Man", penned the script described as "a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico, where five survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth's invaders."

Super Max has sounded so good for so long that I just don't think it'll ever happen. The He-Man script he wrote is apparently too bad for words.

Stine's "Goosebumps" get writers...

Remember those movies like 18 years ago called Problem Child starring this kid:

You have to admit you kind of liked the flick when it came out in 1990 and even it's ill conceived sequel...John Ritter, God Rest his Soul...did this crap for a living. He did meet his wife though, so it's all gravy.

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are teaming up for Goosebumps which'll be based on the old RL Stine Books of the same now. They're actually in the middle of some big projects as of late. The two-some has Ripley's Believe it Or Not starring Jim Carrey (Tim Burton was attached to direct but dropped out), Cell which'll be directed by Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel) which is based on the Stephen King thriller of the same name. They also wrote Ed Wood which is a fucking cult-favorite.

Question is, why are they making a Goosebumps movie now? Ten years too late (practically 20) and of all the random things to do, why sign up these to guys to write it?

Schwartzman is bored...

Jason Schwartzman used to be the drummer for one of my favorite bands ever Phantom Planet. Now that he's gone, the band has taken a turn from their nocturnal effervescent moaning to play regular rock n' roll. Which, to be honest, I love. Regardless, I've always regarded Jason Schwartzman as a decent, but wholly misunderstood actor. He's done flicks like Shopgirl, and Darjeeling Limited and Rushmore among others. He was in a little show, that no one remembers called Cracking Up as well. The show starred Molly Shannon and Christopher MacDonald, and was about a college student (Schwartzman) who moved into their Beverly Hills Guest House. It was a crazy show that wasn't recieved well by viewers or critics. It was created by Pasadena mastermind Mike White, so there you go.

So, Shwartzman has taken a bit of time off from TV after starring in a few flicks, and comes back with a show called Bored to Death which is written by Jonathan Ames and directed by Alan Taylor, who directed basically everything HBO ever put on the air (literally). You're asking yourself, who the fuck is Jonathan Ames, and I wish I could tell you. All I know is that he starred in like five episodes of Moonlighting counting back 20 years ago. He also was on the show "The Moth" which I've never heard of. He had a role in Guilty By Suspicion as "Cabbie" which, I believe is him driving a cab. The show Bored to Death is about an author (no doubt struggling) named Jonathan (really!?) who pretends to be a Private Eye.

Sounds intriguing. Mainly because of Schwartzman's involvement

Empire Online's 100 DVDs you Must Own...

The BoA eclipses 10K...

Hello,

The Blog of Awesomeness has reached and surpassed 10,081 visitors to the site. Not sure how this happened, or why, but I'm fairly impressed by it.

No, I didn't do any guerrilla marketing or anything - I did start posting on a little site called GT! which stands for Go Team Internet ironically enough, it's a pretty awesome site. I don't think the site has anything to do with reaching 10K + visitors. If it did, I'd be shocked.

Justin suggested that someone hot linked an image from the site. That's fine, I don't care. Uhm...thanks?

Apparently if you're retarded you have no sense of humor...

Tropic Thunder , Ben Stiller's new flick starring Jack Black as an overbearing, ass-joke-making, comedian, and Robert Downey Jr as an Austrailian Actor who undergoes surgery to play the black guy in the film. Needless to say, the flick looks great. I can't wait to catch it.

Anyway, the Mentally Retarded People of the World think that Tropic Thunder went too far with their jobs, and they're upset.

Little itty witty wetalds upset...

Holy shit, I'm going to hell.

Mental retardation is not funny. Well it is, but it's not supposed to be. Wow, I'm digging this hole, that I can't get out of. It might be because I work in Gettysburg and deal with freaks and dummies all day.

Tropic Thunder is apparently being boycotted by retards.

There goes their target audience.

"Book 'em Dan-O!"

Apparently CBS loves their cop shows, after deciding on a remake of Streets of San Francisco they've apparently hired Criminal Minds show runner Ed Bernero to head a remake of Hawaii Five-O which would actually revolve around Steve McGarrett's son - who takes the same job as his father - which is to be a part of a fictional state police agency that protects Hawaii..

I'd watch it. First show was awesome. It's a remake season that's for sure.

Anyone want to join Fantasy Football...?

The Blog of Awesomeness Football Challenge is upon us, if you want to join all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and I will get you the password and stuff so you'd be good to go. Bionic Commando...ReArmed!

No Fucking Way! God, I dug this game when I was a kid. Great to see it back, although, I don't play anything but MVP Baseball 2005 and Madden it's definitely going to get scooped up.

Journeyman stuff.

As you may or may not know, I was a huge fan of NBC's shortlived Journeyman series. I thought it was great, and Kevin Falls did a great job with the ideas and such. I thought Kevin McKidd did a great job in the lead role of Dan Vasser and Moon Bloodgood was fantastically hot in her role as Livia. It was about time travel and it's unfortunate that it was, because if people don't understand something they turn the channel. I loved the show. It had a Quantum Leap type of feel to it (or even Back to the Future if you will). Quantum Leap was about time travel, but it also had a personal feel to it, but Sam never had a place where he was just normal he was always leaping into the next spot and it was never ending and exhausting. Journeyman was different because Vasser had a family, he went home and albeit he didn't stay there long, he always had a home to go to. Sam just endlessly went on traveling through time, and solving problems that weren't necessarily his concern hoping that the next leap would be his leap home.

Did that give you douche chills? Yeah, me too.

Anyway, Sam Beckett aside, Dan Vasser was a great character, but horrible fake-American Accent Kevin McKidd has. He was fantasic on Rome and because of that, I gave Journeyman a shot, and I fell in love. Too bad, the rest of the population and critics crucified it on the first shot.

Anyway, the point of this was that Kevin Falls did a little Q&A with AICN, and it's a great read, so check it out.

Adam Dunn goes to the D-Backs.

Adam Dunn, slugger for the Cincinnati Reds goes to the Arizona D'Backs for right hander Dallas Buck. Dunn is a great Home Run hitter, who has 270 career jacks, but bats an abysmal .247 for the career

R.I.P Bernie Mac...

Bernie Mac dead at the age of 50. Very very sad stuff here. We here at the BoA are very very sorry for his families great loss.

This is why I love Chipper Jones...

He comes back from injury and hits a 2-run jack, and they're actually winning! This is how important Chipper Jones is to the Atlanta Braves.

BJ Novak who stars at Ryan on NBC's hit show The Office will star as Jewish-American Utivich; Aldo Raine's Nazi Slayer in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards. Novak will star opposite Cabin Fever scribe Eli Roth, who was cast earlier in the week.

Role Models trailer...

Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd star in Role Models which looks pretty fucking hilarious.

Birbiglia booed?

Seriously O&A pests, you boo the guy, for absolutely no reason. And you fucking ingrate morons, will say "Oh, he sucks!" but that's not the case. It's bullshit that the guy got booed, but I'll tell you what, he toughed through it, and then walked the fuck out on you assholes.

Now, I am an honest-to-God Mike Birbiglia fan, and I am a die-hard O&A fan..but that shit was just wrong, the O&A pests are fucking douche bags.

Venture Bros. Comic Con Panel

Jackson Publick and Michael Sinterniklaas (Dean-O Venture) sit down and answer some questions. Great stuff.

Ed Burns flicks...

Edward Burns is a great, great, great writer. He writes gritty and real dialogue about gritty and real things, like relationships for example. He is a prime example of the independent film director/writer. I just finished watching his flick Purple Violets which starred Selma Blair, Patrick Wilson, and Debra Messing. Great, great flick, and it was severely worth it. Go ahead and do whatever you have to do to get your hands on it.

Well worth the price.

Back from Boston...

Alright, I'm back from Boston, and poorer than ever. I will probably post my Review of Boston on here at some point, but it's not going to be today, tomorrow, or next week. I've got to take some time to remember the drunken stupidity that went into that trip.

Plus, I still have to finish the Dark Knight review. . . haha
