This is why I love Chipper Jones...
He comes back from injury and hits a 2-run jack, and they're actually winning! This is how important Chipper Jones is to the Atlanta Braves.

Big Mouth Wagner at it again...
Billy Wagner doesn't know when to shut his yapper. Honestly, how many times does a person have to tell you to shut up, before you actually listen. Your opinion, Wagner, means shit. You're closer on the New York Metropolitans. Who cares?
SHUT UP!
So, Billy Wagner speaks out because Chase Utley was being booed at the Home Run Derby and apparently said "Boo? Fuck you!" however, it wasn't really supposed to be picked up by the cameras. Chase Utley is getting booed at Yankee Stadium? What the fuck for? I can understand the Sox getting booed, that's normal, but the Phillies? Who gives a shit, they're the Phillies. Chase Utley was obviously in a state of shock and awe, because he was booed in a stadium that he seldom plays in, so I forgive him.
Baseball fans, and Sports Fans in general, are a dumb breed. We boo people just to be assholes, or because the person next to us has a personal vendetta against the player. I hate the Metropolitans, I downright loathe them. If they died tomorrow, I wouldn't care. Really. I hate them that much. Especially David (I only made the team because Alfonso Soriano Got Hurt) Wright, who came in last night and in his first two at bats, whiffed like a bitch.
Anyway, the game went until the 15th inning, I got into bed around, I want to say 11:30, watched a little tube and for shits and giggles went to FOX, and the game was still on. I stopped watching the ASG after the 6th inning, because Chipper Jones was taken out (he had the first NL hit, the guys a machine) and the game held no interest to me whatsoever.
But that's it.

Why JD doesn't hate the MLB All Star game...this year.
Chipper Jones is the starting 3rd Baseman, despite slumping for the last few games. The cat could use a couple of days to rest his aching body, I'm sure but he's still going to play in the All Star Game, and guess what someone had to get hurt for David Wright to join the team!
Haha, fuck you David Wright, I hate your guts.

Chipper Jones: All-Star.
Color me obsessed, but I think Chipper Jones is having the best year of any baseball player this year period. Just look at his numbers on the year:
Chipper Jones ATL 56 Games 213 ABs 43 Runs 89 Hits 11 Doubles 0 triples 14 HRs 39 RBIs
35 Walks 22 K's (!) 1 Stolen Base 0 Caught Stealing .418 Batting Average .498 On Base .667 Slugging 1.165 OBS
Don't know what this means? I will explain it to you. In 56 games this season Chipper Jones has had 213 at bats, has 89 hits in those 213 ABs (14 HRs, 11 Doubles) has 39 Runs Batted In, has 35 Walks as opposed to 22 punch outs. Take into consideration that he has the most hits in Major League Baseball (5 more than Lance Berkman, and 8 more than the Rangers' Josh Hamilton at 81), so there is not much of a need to walk and/or strike out. His batting average is tops in the Majors as well. No one even comes close, Berkman is batting .382, and Pujols is batting .362. His on base percentage or OBP is highest (also) in Major League Baseball at .498, which means, he gets on base more often than not. Lance Berkman is close with .465. Chip's Slugging is 2nd only to Berkman who is slugging an immeasurable .732 (he's also got 17 HRs) Jones' SLG is .667. Chip's OPS is 1.165 2nd to Berkman's 1.197. This takes your Slugging and On Base Percentage and combines them to get this total. OBS stands for On-Base plus Slugging.
If the Braves make the playoffs and Chipper Jones is not the MVP, I will kill EVERYONE.
I'm not kidding.

Chipper Jones hits #400.
Chipper Jones has hit a milestone. He has hit his 400 HR, off of Ricky Nolasco in the 6th inning. It's a very, very important year for Jones, who currently is hitting .418. Go Chipper!

Chipper Jones' comments are....awesome.
This was on CBSSportsline.com, firstly, he's batting over .400 and he's pissed because every year he's overlooked by fans, and whoever else votes, despite having a fantastic career and all that. He said this:
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Chipper Jones leads David Wright in All-Star voting at the third base position in the NL through Wednesday. He hasn't made the All-Star team since 2001. "Honestly it's a shame that I've got to go out and hit .400 for two months to make an All-Star team," Jones said. "It's kind of depressing to me because I've had -- to me -- what I think are some pretty good first halves, what I think is a pretty good career, and I haven't made an All-Star team since '01. ... But I'll take it. Got to make a splash to get people's attention? Got to make a splash."
Love him or hate him, it's the truth. He's been overlooked more times than John McCain's health records. I hate David Wright, he's having a not-so-good year, and if he makes it to the All Star Team in front of Chipper Jones, I will boycott baseball. Not only that, but if David Wright makes it in front of Ryan Braun, I will fucking be astonished. Braun is having a fantastic year. It's just funny to me that there's always these fan favorites that have to be right up there, like David Wright. He's never that good, he has some good stats (sometimes) and he gets the fans behind him and New York Metropolitans fans are fucking retarded. Ryan Braun deserves to be in the All Star game, what I think should happen, and what I think are going to happen are two totally different things.
Fuck you David Wright, I hate your guts.

Longest .400+ Streaks...
Sports Illustrated has an article....or a pictorial? I'm not sure. Aren't pictorials lazy? PRETTY PICTURES! Woo...Chipper Jones is batting .418 right now with 12 dingers and 30+ RBIs, so far, having the best season of his career and hopefully it continues until October. When we can say when someone drops below the .400 mark at the beginning of the season: "Oops, they dropped below the Jones line!"

One Quarter in...for baseball!
Yahoo did their One Quarter In....thing this year for Major League Baseball, and I agree with most of it.
Especially this:
10. Chipper Jones will never retire. Not at this pace, anyway. He’s batting .415, and ranks fourth in the N.L. homers (10) and RBIs (31). Before the season, Jones—who is 36—said he wanted to play in 150 games this year. So far, he has been in 36 of 38.
Chipper Jones is having a superb year, a few more dingers before the AS break would be nice.
My first Quarter In shock is the Tampa Bay Rays. Holy shit, I know they have a good team, however, I never expected them to be so damn good. The hitting is outstanding, even the pitching is good. We all know that Scott Kazmir has talent, but Scott Shields? I told my boss at the beginning of the season that he was a backup pick, so he picked him up and thus far he's pitched at an alarmingly good rate.
The Florida Marlins also have been surprising, difference is, we know they've got a good team there. Hanley Ramirez is overlooked for the overrated Jose Reyes and Jimmy Rollins. Ramirez has power, speed, and can hit fucking anything.
Scott Olsen and Mark Hendrickson have been surprising for the Marlins, as well as basically their entire bullpen.
Something else surprising is Ryan Howards abysmal batting average and inability to hit. Andruw Jones' hardship serve him right, he's a douche. He's batting somewhere in the realm of .170...with ONE HR. I mean...
Good Fucking Riddance.

Something I posted on Yahoo! sports:
"David Wright IS clearly overrated. His gold glove win is laughable. And so you can look at his stats and say that he is a .308 hitter. He's only played 4 years. FOUR YEARS. Chipper Jones has been playing since 95' and has a lifetime .309 average. Get back to me when David Wright can do that. As far as this 20/20 stat is concerned, who gives a crap? Lets look at the stats, shall we? Chipper Jones has NEVER...EVER...struck out 100 times in a season. Ever. Check it out. David Wright in his first 3 years (of full service) has struck out 113, 113, and 115 times. This year, he's already got 24 K's matched up to Chipper Jones' 10.
I'm not saying that David Wright is a bad player, but he's not the holy grail of baseball like all Mets fans make him out to be. He's a decent fielding 3rd Baseman. I can already see his average plummeting over the next couple of years, while Reyes' speed waivers and he doesn't steal 70 bases a year. I understand that slumps happen, but people need to realize this and not be just blind cows going into the slaughter. I am a die-hard Braves fan. That doesn't make me an idiot (as Mets fans would say) it just makes me loyal to the team that I grew up watching. Chipper Jones is having a "monster" year, and if he stays healthy should put up "monster" stats. This year, however, I do not see David Wright putting up "monster" stats.
The David Lettermann curse thing is crap too, by the way."
TRUTH!

Chipper Jones: Most Valuable Player?
Chipper Jones is my favorite baseball player. I think I've made this fact known time and time again. I defend him against the best of the best every year, because he is the Best of the Best. Chipper Jones batted .337 last year; which was one behind the batting title.
This year, his line is incredible. I understand that it's May 7th, I understand that it's probably just a hot start, but is it? Can it actually be more than a hot start? It's a possibility. Chipper is batting .426 in 29 games, has 49 hits, 10 HRs, 29 RBIs, 14 Walks, and only 10 K's in 115 At Bats.

Chipper Jones is churning on all cylinders. He's determined to play in 150 games this year, despite being injured very often in the last couple of years (wether it be his feet, hands, quads what have you). He's a Hall of Famer, he's a career .300 batter, he's 4 HR's short of 400 dingers. Chipper Jones is going to win the Batting title this year, unless of course he gets hurt, or just has an abysmal rest of the year. I could understand that a slump may come, it just doesn't look like it's going to happen.
The Braves offense never falters, but I think we need a new pitching staff built around Timmy Hudson.
Also, if Chipper Jones doesn't start 3rd for the All-Star game, I'm going to boycott baseball and write a 1,000 letters to Bud Selig complaining about the All-Star ballots.

Why JD doesn't watch the MLB All Star Game...Part II
I was just checking over the updated ballot for the Major League Baseball All-Star game. Much to my chagrin, the Mets aren't doing so well. Sure their infield will pretty much field the NL side of the game, but that's too be expected. Stupid New York Met fans with nothing better to do just simultaneously click their mouses over and over (for the max 25 votes) and then they make up e-mail addresses and do it again. One thing that makes me so happy I could cry is the fact that Russ Martin of the Dodgers is edging Paul LoDuca out of the NL Catcher Spot.
For those of you who don't know, or haven't realized, I hate fucking Paul LoDuca. I hate him. I really do. Moreso than I hate David Wright, or Tom Herr. I don't know why, honestly, I just fucking do.
Anyway, Prince Fielder is going to edge out Albert Pujols for the NL 1st Baseman Starting spot. As well he fucking should, the guy has been hammering the holy bejesus out of the ball. He's hitting .283, with 26 Long balls, and 61 rbis. Pujols (whom I think is awesome, don't get me wrong) is batting .303 with 16 long balls and 47 rbis. Pujols' OBP is better, it's just that he hasn't displayed the type of power that Fielder has yet. Granted, Fielder is on a much better team and Pujols is on a sinking ship with a bird-emblem. Fielder is a good choice.
Chase Utley is another surprise for JD, because I have always called the All Star game a popularity contest (it is), but Utley is actually deserving of the 2B spot on the NL side. Kelly Johnson maybe have 8 HRs, but I mean the guy is as inconsistant as ever. Utley's batting .322 to Johnson's .274, Utley has 30 doubles, to Johnson's 13. Although, take into consideration that Utley isn't leading off.
3rd Base is going to fucking bewilder me. I know that Chipper Jones was hurt and all that. And that David Wright was in a slump, but considering the fact that he's still batting - fuck it...look:
Jones' stats: .320 Avg, .408 OBP, 13 HR, 28 RBI, 38 runs!, 15 doubles, 1 3b.
Wright's stats: .289 Avg, .373 OBP, 12 HR, 40 RBI, 41 runs, 18 doubles, 1 3b.
You've got to be fucking kidding me. This jaggoff is leading
the All Star rankings? And by jaggoff I mean David Wright. Come-the fuck-on here. It aggravates me to no-end to see this. And to think that David Wright has played 20 more games! I mean, Chipper Jones has scored 38 runs! Thirty-Eight runs, for those of you who can't read numbers, in 51 games with a team that had a cleanup hitter that was hitting below .200! I means that in 51 games, Chipper Jones hits the fucking ball! Isn't that what a hitter batting third is supposed to do ...consistently? I know this is going to piss off Marc, but I'm so fucking peeved by this shit I'm thinking of sending a letter to Omar Minaya explaining why (and how much) I hate him.Jesus. Lest we forget that Miguel Cabrera deserves the reigns more than both of them (granted Chip was hurt for 20 games) Cabrera who has played 71 games has a .327 Avg, .395 OBP, 16 HR, 53 RBIs, 45 runs, 20 doubles, 2 3b.
I'm fucking flabbergasted. I really don't understand the All
Star game, isn't he point to get the best player out there and not some fucking hack that the fans voted for. I mean, Jesus-Fucking-Christ, what's the point? If the best man for the job isn't out there hitting, fielding, and eating sunflower seeds..then what, my friends, is the point of all this?
