It pisses me off that....

In the overall pitcher rankings at the beginning of the year ...

Jake Peavy was behind Johan Santana despite being better than him last year, and winning the CY Young award.

Their projections on CBSSportline.com are fucking God-awful and really really just a guess.

Santana is already doing worse than Peavy (who started off the year with a bang)

Santana roughed up.

The News
Johan Santana's spring training debut with the Mets didn't go so well, as the lefty,
gave up three runs on four hits in two innings of a 5-4 loss to the Cardinals.
Our View
Well, it's time to drop Santana down on your cheat sheet.
Obviously we're kidding (NO THEY'RE NOT). He'll be just fine.

Beltran drilled...in practice...

Carlos Beltran, center fielder for the New York Metropolitans was drilled by his own teammate yesterday during live batting practice. Who was that teammate you ask?

Johan Santana.

Throwin' beanballs is a great way to start your New York Metropolitan career

Santana signs a 7-year deal...

Johan Santana and the New York Metropolitans went over there scheduled time, by about and hour and a half...but reached a 7-year $150 million dollar deal.

Are you fucking kidding me!?!

The Mets are the team to beat?

Really?

Lets see, do they have Dan Haren and Brandon Webb?

This is the little poll that ESPN had.

1) If the proposed Johan Santana trade to the Mets goes through, which team would be getting the better end of the deal?

90.3%Mets (would receive Johan Santana)
9.7%Twins (would receive Carlos Gomez, Phil Humber, and two minor leaguers)

Firstly, the Twins are getting FOUR guys, obviously they're making out like bandits here. This proves that people are fucking stupid.

2) Would the acquisition of Johan Santana make the Mets the preseason favorites to win the 2008 World Series?

63.5%No
36.5%Yes

Finally a right answer. The Mets will still not win the World Series with the addition of Johan Santana. One player does not win a season. Especially not the 15-13 Johan Santana.

3) How will Santana perform in 2008 if he is traded to the National League?

55.7%16-19 wins, 2.50-3.50 ERA
39.0%20 or more wins, less than 2.50 ERA
5.3%15 or fewer wins, greater than 3.50 ERA

20+ wins getting 39 percent? Are you fucking off your gourd, you douches? Seriously. Santana will probably get around 16-17 wins, and somewhere in the vicinity of a 3 ERA

4) Santana's strikeout and walk rates remained consistent in 2007, but his home run rate jumped significantly. What does this mean for his career going forward?

59.6%He's not untouchable, but still one of the best pitchers in baseball
36.0%Nothing; it's a one-year blip
4.4%Hitters have figured him out, and he'll have more trouble from now on

Another correct answer. I've never been a huge fan of Santana, because for the life of me, I can't see what the big deal is. He's a good pitcher yes, but a good pitcher is still good on a bad team.

5) If Santana is traded to the Mets, would too much of baseball's elite talent be concentrated on the East Coast?

57.9%No
42.1%Yes

Uh. Yes, 58 percent of people who did this survey are retarded.

6) Is Santana worth a long-term (6- or 7-year) deal?

75.6%Yes
24.4%No

Was Pedro?

7) Will Santana make the Hall of Fame?

81.7%Yes
18.3%No

He's 28 years old, he has 93 wins in eight seasons and a lifetime ERA of 3.22...right now? He's not a HOFer, in ten years, with 290+ wins and an ERA of say...2.50+ he might be.

8) If Santana is traded, which high-profile Mets pitcher will end up with the better career?

54.0%Johan Santana
46.0%Pedro Martinez

I personally think that Santana would have the better career regardless. I still think the Mets are going to stink up the joint. Who has a better one-two punch, the D'Backs with Haren/Webb or the Mets with Martinez/Santana, Braves with Hudson/Smoltz, or the Cubs with Zambrano/Hill, or even for the sake of argument San Diego's Peavy/Young combination...that's followed by Greg Maddux.

9) If Santana is traded, who would be the best pitcher in the National League?

62.7%Johan Santana
13.7%Jake Peavy
5.4%Brandon Webb
4.5%Cole Hamels
2.8%Carlos Zambrano
2.1%John Smoltz
2.1%Roy Oswalt
1.2%Pedro Martinez
1.2%Brad Penny
1.0%Dan Haren
1.0%Ben Sheets
0.7%Tim Hudson
0.6%Matt Cain
0.5%Aaron Harang
0.4%Chris Young

BULLSHIT! Once again, stymied by the fact that people are stupid. Johan Santana will not be the best pitcher in the NL next year, because Jake Peavy will be. It annoys me that Dan Haren is so low on this list, and that
Santana got 62.7% of the votes. What a crock of shit.

10) If the trade goes through, would the Twins be contenders in the AL Central?

87.0%No
13.0%Yes

The Twins just basically turned themselves into the Florida Marlins. If they get more than 80 wins, I'll cry.

Mets reach tentative deal, may get Santana.

Santana to Mets ...if they give up the farm...

It's true, the Mets could possible get Johan Santana if they throw in their highly touted prospect Fernando Martinez along with Chris Gomez, Philip Humber, Kevin Mosbey, and some other weird named dude. (I don't even know if Kevin Mosbey is right, I listened to this on SNYOnline).

Brandon Tierney (from 1050 ESPN), who is probably the biggest fucking idiot I have ever seen. Aside from the fact that he says Santana is a great idea. Apparently he doesn't hesitate a bit. He brings up old-school prospect guys like Paul Wilson and says that prospects should be regarded as "Suspect" because they're not shitting and getting off the pot.

FUCK THE HECK!?

Seriously, Brandon, what the fuck is wrong with you, idiot? Half of these guys are fucking Double-A guys, who need serious time in the farm system. That's what the Farm System is THERE FOR! Holy Shit. Brandon Tierney is a fucking moron, and he says afterward that there's a lot to consider (even though he said it was a no-brainer) and apparently if the Mets sign Santana they've won the NL East.

Santana went 15-13 in 2007, with a 3.33 ERA.

Yeah, the Mets are going to win it all.

I want to compare the Mets/Twins rosters from 2007.

At first base you have Carlos Delgado for the Mets, and Justin Morneau for the Twins.

Morneau hit .271 with 31 dingers and 111 RBIs.
Delgado hit .258 with 24 HRs, and 87 RBIs.

Second Base really sucks for both teams; The Mets went out and got (big shock) Luis Castillo ...from the Twins!

Castillo hit .304 with no HRs, and 18 RBIs for the Twins
Castillo hit .296 with 1 HR and 20 RBIs for the Mets

...

I give up...

I'm too lazy to even consider doing the rest of this. First of all, I don't see how one player like Santana can make the Mets better when Pedro was supposed to be the answer to all the problems. They still fucking lost, they still had the worst downward spiral in the last month of the 2007, that it looked like they might just implode. They've brought up a couple of guys from their farm system, guys like David Wright and Jose Reyes, whose talent I can't argue with (Gold Glove is a bit much), but you can't just put all your eggs in one basket, you can't just sign everyone, you have to kind of develop talent.

Or Not.

And you can have a payroll in the $200+ Million range and lose every fucking year...

Good luck with that.

Greatest Rumor Ever.

This article here says in the byline "Mets need to sign A-Rod, trade Reyes for Santana" and I read this and my hatred for the Mets says "Yes! Do it!" But the sports fiend in me says ..."What the holy fuck are you babbling about?" The Mets do not need to sign A-Rod, and they most certainly should not trade Jose Reyes for Johan Santana. First of all, getting Santana on your team will pilfer your farm league or at least your up and coming guys. Lets say for the sake of argument that you do in fact want to trade for Santana and you're the Mets. You'd have to give up at least Lastings Milledge, Philip Humber and Mike Pelfrey. Now, none of these three are even remotely as good as Santana is. Milledge is a hot-head and has been the subject of trade rumors for the last three years. Humber started one game for the Mets and gave up 6 ER (earn runs) in 4 innings pitched. I mean, and don't get me started on Pelfrey. This cat is God Awful and belongs on the Royals pitching opposite Kyle Davies; and some people will say that he never got any run support...but listen he gave up at least an ER in every game he appeared in. Not only that, but he lost 7 games in a fucking row! Jesus! He also gave up 85 hits in 72.2 IP and had an ERA hovering around 6.00! Maybe he should go to an American League team!

The best option for Santana right now would be to hold off on waiving that No Trade Clause, because right now he's looking at the Yankees, Phillies and Mets. Phillies, personally, need this guy desperately. And I think they'll be willing to give Santana a contract worthy of the kind of pitcher he is.

The first part of the article had the Mets signing Alex Rodriguez. And to this I say no. I don't think so. First of all the guy wants a 10 year contract worth like $300 gazillion dollars. Secondly, this article says The Mets need this to win the series (by this I mean both Santana and A-Rod) and let me just clue you in on something rather interesting...Neither Santana or A-Rod have rings; and neither play remarkably well in the post season...so

this rumor sucks balls,
